December 7, 2020 Return to In-School Instruction Plan, 12-4-20

December 7, 2020, Return to In-School Instruction Plan

Dear PLSD Students and Parents:

Please be advised that we have adjusted the original return to in-school instruction this coming Monday,
December 7, 2020, due to recent mandated guidance from the PA Departments of Health and Education.
Below you will see the schedule for next week. With the new mandates in place, we may be forced to quickly
transition back to full remote learning without much notice. This return schedule has been adjusted to
maximize social distancing within both schools. I have posted a video that further explains the mandates and
how they potentially affect our district. I would advise everyone to check the website regularly for updates.
Again, our goal is to have students back in school, and further to have them remain in school. We will be
operating more on a daily and weekly timeline during this surge in COVID-19 cases within the community.
Here is the breakdown of the schedule for next week.

● Pre-K through 5th Grade (4 Days In-School + 1 Day Remote)
○ In-school Monday-Thursday
○ Remote Learning on Friday
● 6th Grade (2 Days In-School + 3 Days Remote)
○ A/B Hybrid Schedule on the Students’ Assigned Days
○ Remote Learning on Friday
● 7th Grade (4 Days In-School + 1 Day Remote)
○ In-school Monday-Thursday
○ Remote Learning on Friday
● 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th Grade Students (2 Days In-School + 3 Days Remote)
○ A/B Hybrid Schedule on the Students’ Assigned Days
○ Remote Learning on Friday
● 12th Grade Students (4 Days In-School + 1 Day Remote)
○ In-school Monday-Thursday
○ Remote Learning on Friday
● K through 12th Grade Students with Special Needs Continue with 4 Days In-School + 1 Day
Remote

I would encourage everyone to view the video that has been posted on both Facebook and our website that
gives additional information on the new mandates we must adhere to. PIAA sports are set to begin Monday,
December 7, 2020, with additional masking requirements. The Heritage Conference is meeting next week,
and updates on sports will be forthcoming from Mr. Thomas and Mr. Bracken. Again, circumstances and
conditions can rapidly change, and we will do our very best to keep you informed as quickly as possible.

Lastly, if you are having any social or mental health concerns regarding your child please reach out to the
school. Counselors are available to assist and coordinate support services. Thank you for your understanding
and continued cooperation as we navigate these unprecedented times. Please be safe and stay strong.

Sincerely,

Shawn L. Ford
Superintendent
