CLASS OF 2020 GRADUATION

Purchase Line School District has announced that the Commencement Ceremony for the Purchase Line High School Class of 2020 will take place at the Purchase Line High School Athletic Parking Lot.  Each graduate will have a reserved parking spot in one of the front rows for his/her immediate family and will receive one additional vehicle pass to distribute to extended family and friends.  The additional vehicle with a pass should arrive at the high school between 8:00-8:15 p.m.  Only the vehicle with the graduating senior is to be part of the parade.

The Commencement Ceremony will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020.  The video will begin showing at approximately 8:45 PM.  Prior to the graduation exercises at Purchase Line, graduates and their families are invited to line up at KMI (the former North Elementary in Mahaffey) at 7:30- 7:45 PM.  A small number of vehicles with our class officers and student speeches will start off the parade.  The rest of the vehicles will proceed in no specific order.  The parade route is 13 miles long, so I can’t stress enough that no one should be in the bed of a truck or hanging out windows.  Safety is our number one concern!   Students will proceed to the Purchase Line High School in parade style so that households along the route can watch from their yards and others who would like to park somewhere on the route can cheer our graduates on.   Students are encouraged to decorate their cars for the parade to the High School.  If using balloons, posters, etc., please don’t block the view of others while watching the video presentation.

Once everyone arrives at the High School, the video ceremony will begin and will include student and administrative speakers, and the recognition of every graduate of the Class of 2020.  During the video, it is important that all students and family members remain in their vehicles in accordance with all social distancing guidelines.  We will continue to follow all CDC guidelines and PA Department of Health guidelines.  Please be respectful to all attendees who are watching the video by not beeping horns, flashing lights, etc.

All seniors need to wear their caps and gowns because they will have an opportunity to get out of their vehicles and walk.  Ladies, be careful when selecting your shoes...we don’t want you to fall going to the stage.  Bring an umbrella and hopefully we will not need it.  Have a mask on hand.

Seniors, we will have a rehearsal the day of, on Friday, June 5 at 11:00 in the gymnasium parking lot.  Bring your cap and gown for this.  We will be taking photos.

Sincerely,

Eric A. Thomas
