Hello and Welcome!

My name is Greg Shingle and I am excited to be the new principal of the Purchase Line Junior/Senior High School.  I join this great school after serving the Penn Cambria School District for the past 18 years.  As a teacher, I taught at both the elementary and middle school before taking on the role of assistant principal at Penn Cambria High School.  My many years of experience spanning across all grade levels gives me the knowledge and enthusiasm to now lead this school into the future. 

My path to becoming an educator started at Penn State, where I earned my degree in Elementary and Kindergarten Education in the fall of 2004.  From there, I would teach for several years before deciding that my love for reading education would send me onto my master’s program.  I earned my Master’s in Science Education from Wilkes University with a focus on early childhood literacy in the spring of 2011.  This was a completely online program that was writing intensive and required me to use my own classroom as my learning tool.  It was through this program that I was able to learn the best ways to meet the needs of students learning to read.  Working with many student teachers over the years lead me to realize my desire to be a school leader.  In the summer of 2016, I earned my Pennsylvania K-12 Principal certification from Point Park University.  This too was a completely online cohort that allowed me to work side by side with my building principal at the time.  That hands on work, along with many hours of online instruction lead me to the completion of another goal in my educational journey.

As a teacher and now a leader, I truly value the need for excellence in public education.  It is my goal as the principal of Purchase Line Junior/Senior High School to continue to move students on their path to educational success.  As a classroom teacher, I promoted respect and understanding for all students to ensure a safe environment for learning and as a principal I will continue this effort.  Learning is the key to the future and our students deserve the very best.  With my support, the faculty and staff will continue to move this school into the future.  I am extremely excited to now be a Red Dragon and am always here to listen and support the students of Purchase Line.
